But you want to be able to use them to make crafts and stuff! So go back into that same rightmost center menu and instead choose to reclaim forbidden items, and drag over your garbage dump. Click the rightmost icon in the bottom-center of the screen and choose to dump items (the trashcan). Garbage dumps are different from refuse piles.you want to put a refuse pile outside so your dwarves will fill it with corpses and gross stuff automatically, but a garbage dump is 100% controlled by you personally, based on what you choose to dump. Go into zones, and make a garbage dump somewhere that is just 1x1, one single tile.
The first step to making one is to delete all your stone stockpiles, so dwarves stop hauling those stones around anywhere.
Stockpiles are not very good for stone unless they are directly surrounding a stoneworker's shop, so other people bring them next to the shop and the worker doesn't have to walk very far.Ī "quantum stockpile" is a slightly cheesy way to store infinite stone in just one single space. At least it's not taking up space in my food stockpiles and like I said before, it's all about the bee stings.īut really, the one tile dump+stockpile combo right next to the relevant workshops is a great solution, in general. I know it's working for the brewer, but my cook still seems to be ignoring the jelly even though it's closer to his kitchen than everything else. I've since gotten a chance to try the dump zone+one tile honey/jelly stockpile. (This is especially a problem for jug production.) Sometimes that's a good thing, but if you're trying to train up your workers you want your production to go as quickly as possible. Although, If you don't haul away the products to a stockpile or a dump zone and they are produced faster than they are used those workshops will get cluttered and slow down production. It's a good idea to keep related workshops close together anyway, as that reduces hauling times.
